MY PRACTICE

My acupuncture practice is based on accepting of where each client is with their health and lifestyle while paying careful attention to looking and listening equally to body and mind and helping each individual to find more comfort in life.

HOW I WORK

There are many ways to have an acupuncture treatment. I like to see clients on a one-to-one basis and we stay in the room throughout a treatment.

Alongside needles, I incorporate Tui na massage techniques, as well as moxibustion in treatments. When working with children, I use specific non-insertive needling techniques known in Japan as Shoni-shin.  I’m always open to discussing how I work and I invite clients to ask about any aspect of their treatment if they feel they’d like to.

TREATMENT PLANNING AND FREQUENCY

I usually see clients for an initial consultation, which includes a treatment. This session is longer (90 mins) than subsequent ones (60 mins), to allow time to talk through a client’s medical history, symptoms and a thorough consideration of systems such as sleep, diet, menstruation and lifestyle factors.

Traditional acupuncture is a subtle therapeutic intervention, and the frequency and spacing of treatments varies from person to person. Weekly or more frequent sessions are quite usual to begin with, reducing in frequency with change in presentation.
